Ultimate Windows Tweaker is a Tweak UI Utility for tweaking and optimizing Windows Vista, 32-bit & 64-bit. It can simply be downloaded and used as a portable application to customize your Windows Vista to meet your requirements. With judicious tweaking, it can make your system faster, more stable, and more secure with just a few mouse clicks. The tweaker detects whether you have IE 7 or IE 8 installed and accordingly offers you the relevant tweaks only.

It just works, no hassles. Font's way too small, no Help or detailed description for what each setting does. Vista was a very poorly designed operating system to begin with but with this utility it's now a pleasure to use! The download is a Zip file. When you extract it, the folder should have a link to the website and another folder named UWTv2.1. In that folder is the Tweaker, it's called Ultimate Windows Tweaker.exe. You just click that and it runs. It doesn't install anyhting your system, you just click the .exe file when you want to run it. I just wish it had a detailed Help file, but for free that's to be expected I guess.

Small Download and has a system restore option. Makes most already available tweaks a bit easier to access. I have 4GB RAM. Before Running this program, I had 3070 RAM recognised and useable. After using this program, I only had 3000 RAM but 4GB recognised and 1GB unuseable. So, I lost 70MB. Tried it on 3 separate W7U 32 bit Systems and 2 re-installs with the same disappointing results ( so, 5 times). Total system usage also showed at least a loss of 70MB, so in a nutshell, this RAM thingo actually reduces the amount of available RAM. Most of the other tweaks are mainly superficial and already available via W7 configuration. For me, this program is a technological step backward in that it professes to do something it simply can't do. It's a Bill Gates thing too.

Allowed me to change my Logon screen without needing to dig into the system files. One time my desktop came up with a generic background, and no icons. Pretty weird, but I know it was my desktop. A reboot got everything back in order. Just weird. I like tweakers, and this one is among the best.

Collects many settings in one place, that otherwise would be a chore to modify Can't think of any This should be in your toolbox, no reason not to.

Some very cool and unique tweks like the start menu item changer... too cool program is a standalone app.... makes system restore a manual necessity before applying changes Not for the faint of heart....UWT provides a wealth of tools to tweak your systems UI but beware of the changes you make to critical system and performance processes under the hood.

I have no problem tweaking Windows. I just like to know what I'm changing. It appears to work as advertized. No help file I could find. Makes it tough if yuor not sure what the setting you trying to decide on is. Well, you CAN kill the stupid Windows 7 icon arrows!! And many other things. Go slow. There is also a restore default button if you over do it. It does what it says.

makes appearance, customixation of functions so easy and out of the dictates of MS! I don't mess with security settings; if one is over-zealous, performance and functions will be damaged, rather than finessed! One of my first downloads on a new install or after re-imaging/formatting of an OS...along wth Microangelo (trial) my PC is MINE and it speeds-up 'wait-times' on Windows' dawdling...

Overall easy to use (for experienced users), with many options for the individual sections of Windows you want to tweak. Some of the sections are complex and may be hard to tweak for unexperienced or untrained users. You need to be really sure of what you're turning on or off. Would recommend this program for anyone who wants to give their Windows that extra something, or just wants it to run better, safer and a little bit faster.
