"Excellent freeware" high functionality maybe more protection for the idiot user... when I deleted all I didn't realise everything that was included in "all".... maybe a double-check on sub-directories before dleeting them!

testman I can and do use my sense, however my clients are all computer retards and hate getting notifications every 3 days for an upgrade they don't need. I do set the update frequency to 365 days when I remember to do it.

For uploading to your host (which is all I need it to do) It's ever so simple to use, easy to understand interface and uploads with no errors. AND ITS FREE!! The progress bar dosen't work. It's stuck on 100%. Personaly this is a minor gripe as I tend to go about doing somthing else while uploading and never pay attention to when its completed. First of all please beware of all the poor copies of this product. There are many and most try to lure you in to paying full price for a buggy product that you can?t uninstall. Filezilla is open source and IMO the best of the rest. Simply put, it just works. After being totally frustrated trying to upload my clients online albums in Adobe Lightroom 2, receiving error after error and then an occasional upload it was time to use dedicated ftp software. I've tried cute ftp which is rated highly by many but it would never completely upload . Then fortunately I then stumbled across FileZilla and not a hashed up copy using another name. For strait forward uploading it was a simple affair. The interface is clean and intuitive. You just enter your hosting details, passwords, etc. at the top of the screen, then simply drag from the left folder menu your files to upload and drop into you host folder menu. It worked first time and has done for a while now with no errors. If only I had used this before in the past it would have saved me a lot of wasted time.

"Great FTP Software!" It's easy! Yet it meets the FTP standards. Look... It's FREE! Nothing I could think of. It works, easy and it's free. Worth to have it!

in a simgle step you are able to upload or download very large files, no email is needed, you simply drag and drop. the log in is easy to use once you setup the account the file menus close up and take time to reopen wen you log off and log back in-this step is needed after a transfer to a location to verify the file was actually transfered, this is because sometimes the file shows as transfered but it was not this product simplifies the moving of files, if you had to up-load via email on thefirst location and then down-load at the second it would take a lot more time and quite often the email server at one end or the other would reject a file attachment due to size or data loss or some other possible error and you were out all teh time spent at both ends, and you would have to make calls or more emails to arrange a resend.

"Exellent FTP client" Fast and easy to use. When editing a file directly through Filezilla you have to confirm uploading the file on save. It should happen automatically

"I don't understand how it works" It was free If you don't know what you're doing, like me,there's little help avaiable

"Easy to use, easy to learn and free" Easy to use and set upEasy to learn how to useFastFree (especially nice in these tough economic times of 2009)There's a nice option to reconnect to the last server you connected to with one click of a button None that I can think of. I simply had to adjust a bit to the FTP Admin Panel after using WS-FTP for so long.

"Very easy to use, and its free!!!" You can set it so that you don't have to login every time you want to edit your website None, and I doubt there are any I recommend this ftp over and any other because its free and it just gets the job done, even better than a paid ftp program

The features of this ftp client keep getting better and better. Directory synchronization, directory comparison, secure ftp, multiple connections, etc. Storing passwords in plain text is a MAJOR security shortcoming of Filezilla! Users of the portable version especially need to understand this , since usb drives are so easy to lose! I've used Filezilla for years as my primary ftp client. It's really a great program, but I don't use it on portable devices or portable drives. Workarounds to the security issue are 1) type in your password(s) each time you want to connect or 2) use the poorly documented kiosk mode, which has its own drawbacks or 3) use a third-party encryption solution (probably the best solution for now.) One would think it to be relatively trivial to either hash the password in the xml file or (better) have an option whereby the user was prompted for a password to use stored (encrypted) passwords (such as with Firefox & FireFtp). There doesn't seem to be any move to fix this problem which is often brushed off with the glib statement "security is the responsibility of the operating system."

"Fast and easy to use" Does what it says it does, and keeps you informed of progress The GUI isn't the most friendly, but didn't take that long to get used to. I'd recommend it.
