Yes I have to confess something: FastPictureViewer Professional is a bit ahead of its time. It thus comes to no wonders that it’s of little appeal to a crowd who seemingly never made it past Norton Commander and probably still runs XP SP2... Curiously it generates a solid 5 (five) figures a month in revenue and things are getting better every instant with Microsoft selling its latest OS at 7 copies per second, paving the way for my little software to show its true virtue. I’ll check with you guys when I reach 6 monthly digits :-)

I too have tried all the image viewers, and this one is definitely crap. Few features and it loads images of any decent size slower than living hell. Might look good initially, but there's WAY better options out there.

I don't understand the people who trash this program because it doesn't do what other Photo Manager+Editor does. Those programs are not designed specifically to be just a good picture viewer. I'm a photographer and this software sure is handy, especially to replace the epic slow native photo viewer of Windows 7 (Windows Live Gallery/Photo Viewer included). I'm aware of IrfanView. I love it but at the moment, it's still too quirky for me. It's very difficult to get the window size/picture size correct/consistent all the time. I use IrfanView mostly just to batch process photos (resizing). This program is fast when it comes to RAW. With JPEG, it is just probably on par with IrfanView, at least on my machine (2GHz Core Duo (not C2D) laptop, 4GB RAM). I'll test it again on my next i7 930, 6GB RAM when it arrives. I like the interface as it keeps to the simpleness that a photo viewer should have. When I open a photo, I want to see the photo straight. The RGB histogram is definitely a plus. One thing I don't like however is the menu bar on the bottom (which you can hide). It's too ugly. I certainly wouldn't mind if it's made to look more consistent with the Windows UI (which is boring but at least, not ugly). All that being said, I'm still undecided whether to part with my very precious USD39 as it is a huge amount for me (3rd world country). I wouldn't mind buying this in a second if I have better purchasing power.

Read the author's post below (axelr) then ask your self why you'd want to support this guy or his featureless image viewer. Do yourself a favor and grab Xnview or Faststone for free.

This program is trialware & not freeware as it is billed here. Minus one star. The author seems to have an ego as big as all outdoors with an attitude to match. Minus one star. Very basic image viewer that is only going to appeal to the user who has to deal with a *LOT* of mammoth raw images. Otherwise, it falls short of every other image viewer on the planet including the venerable ACDSee v2.43 which is ancient. Minus one star. Something else, which I won't dock a star for, but people should be aware of is that this program will cost you $50 and that will only entitle you to v2.x updates for free. Something with such a small feature-set paired with a high price should have free lifetime updates, IMHO. To, the author, go ahead and check back in with us when your monthly sales are larger. In return, we'll check back in with you when your program matches the feature-set of the built-in image viewer that ships with Windows.

Despite of some critical or negative review, I must say that I actually like Fast Picture Viewer Pro pretty much. It perfectly fits in my digital workflow in which my first step always is to select the 'keeper' in series of RAW files. This viewer makes life easy in that first step and it works pretty fast to. My suggestions for a next version are: – the possibility to see 2 pictures next to each other to compare pictures and select the 'keeper' – add also a 'black/white' histogram – option to select or deselect all pictures marked 'copied' I tried the evaluation version. At the moment I use the Faststone Image Viewer (freeware). I'm looking forward to versio 2.x of Fast Picture Viewer and if the price drops a little to let's say $25, I expect it to be a replacement for current image viewer. If the price was lower and included the upgrade to 2.x I would have given 5 stars.

I've been using the trial for a few days and it really fits the bill for what I need. Something simple that I could use at a live session with tethering on my laptop. I could work then and there with the client to cull down a quick list of our favourites and they can view live what I'm shooting and make changes as they're needed. This point would of course be null and I wouldn't even consider the program if my main photo manager supported tethering but sadly it does not. So it's a great addition for those that don't have an elegant method of tethering that is pleasing to the eye. With that said there are just a couple of downsides as far as I can see. One, the price. I just feel its too high -- though just barely. I'd expect to pay upwards of 35 for this. Secondly it would be nice to have a split view or multi image view to compare different shots simultaneously and be able to zoom in and compare details. The rating is really more of a 3.45. I'll likely end up paying for it before the 31st when the sale is over.

I really don't know why anyone would use this program when there are better free programs. FastStone image viewer blows it away in every regard, and it's free and works more intuitively. Even XNView is better. It is arguably better than IrfanView, but IV is free. Maybe the author plans on making it better, so I'll try later releases.

What an arrogant guy! You know what mister, your app sucks big time. This featureless program has some bugs that can only be found in a beta version. And yet you charge 40 bucks for it. I just installed the trial version and regretted every second of it. Uninstall.

It would be OK if this application (Fast picture viewer pro) was free, but no way I’m going to pay for an app with a functionality that is already can be found in a built-in tool in Windows.

Average and Too expensive. Oh and Mr (axelr): With that attitude to you will get a solid 2 figures a month in revenue and that is only if you buy a copy for yourself every month.

FastPictureViewer Pro is kind of a rip-off; it only displays the images, nothing else. Note: It's not a freeware, it's a trial version.
