DSynchronize by Dimitrios Coutsoumbas Screenshot DSynchronize Screenshot

DSynchronize is a stand-alone utility that let you periodically synchronize two or more folders in a LAN (also working with UDF-CD-DVD, USB Keys, etc.). Is also possible to specify the time and the day on which the sync have to run, and to create some filters. There is also an option to add the date and time of the sync to the name of the folder, to obtain a series of backups, classified by date and time.

Have been using it for 6 months for my backups, copying 5 gigs of info, and couldn't be happier. Portable, stable, effective, and fast. Would like to see FTP support in future versions but absolutely no complaints.

Would be perfect if it supported copying in use files (VSS).

I've been using it since few months and I'm very happy. It would be perfect if, while asking confirmation of replacing files, it showed details of both copies (size, date, last opening, etc...). I don't like to overwrite the wrong file......

Simple single-screen set and forget setup.Syncs files fast and effectively in real-time sync mode. Can define multiple root folders to sync. Limited to defining root folders to be sync'd. Cannot easily exclude subfolders. I was surprised at the speed and integrity with which DSync sync'd files in real-time mode to my external mirror drive. There was only a four second delay in updating the external mirror with modified or new files. Files deleted on your primary drive can also be auto-deleted on mirror. Simple setup and precision functionality that I was looking for in a FREE product. It effectively allows me to RAID my internal corporate laptop drive by mirroring to my external USB drive. Now when my laptop OS files get corrupted (as in the case of an incident yesterday), I can move my external USB drive to another laptop/PC to use for my work and email while my corporate IT guys repair the laptop. And when repairs arefinished, I just plug the USB drive back in to my laptop and my updates files are resync'd back onto my primary internal drive. DSynchronize can run as a service after the sync jobs are defined (but you need to initially do a manual sync to produce the mirrored folders before setting up real-time mode because real-time mode performance would be degraded until the mirror is initially established). What a painless tools for business continuity during disasters..

Tried it some time ago when setting up a backup for my desktop, and while it was very capable it lacked in the UI department. If I were to rank just the interface, it'd be 2/5.
