ReNamer is a small, yet very flexible and powerful file renaming tool that offers all the standard renaming procedures including prefixes, suffixes, replacements, case changes, as well as remove contents of brackets, add number sequences, change file extensions, etc. For advanced users, there is a PascalScript rule, which let users program their very own renaming rule. The program allows you to combine multiple renaming actions as a rule set, applying each action in logical sequence, which can be saved, loaded and managed within the program. In addition, ReNamer supports Meta Tags, such as: ID3v1, ID3v2, EXIF, OLE, AVI, Hashing and more; has an ability to rename folders, can process Regular Expressions, and supports Unicode filenames.

1) A variety of different ways to define your renaming needs.2) You can combine multiple renaming tasks.3) Full-fledged regular expressions!4) File and folder renaming works identically, and you can do both at the same time.5) Undo last action. 1) When renaming a file on the File List by hand (F2), the renaming field comes up empty; would be nice to have the current name there.2) The UI could use A LOT MORE toolbar buttons.2) Switching between File and Folder modes is a bit of a hassle. For a free program, Renamer works better than great, and is very straight-forward to use. Having said that, here are my two cents...I switched to this program from File Renamer Basic. So far, for pure renaming tasks (and in loading performance), ReNamer has blown it out of water. The only thing I miss is the UI: ReNamer's UI is very basic compared to FRB. Some commonly used tasks are buried so deep within the button/menu structure that it becomes a chore doing it on a regular basis. A simple toolbar populated with some task buttons (ideally customizable) would be really great. Another pet peeve of mine is manual renaming: when I am renaming a file on the File List by hand (by pressing F2), I expect the renaming field to be populated with the current name (so I can do quick modifications), but it doesn't. So I have to open up Explorer for that one file, or type out the whole name myself.

Easy to define rules for renaming. I had to rename a lot of files and it took me just a few minutes to understand the interface and proceed with renaming Can't think of any Pretty nifty renaming tool. I would recommend it to others.

Totally, absolutely, positively excellent. Tiny, infinitely customizable ReNamer that does it all. Just try it.

none, really. After creating the rule and previewing the change, it look fine, but the program failed to actually rename the files. So I used File Renamer Basic instead. Did not work for me in windows 7 32bit.

Absolutely awesome, i've held onto the exe file for a long time just incase you were to take it off of here. Absolutely necessary if your going to rename a bunch of images (what i use it for mostly) slightly outdated looking, but funcationality makes up for it. a must have
