Mail Alert is a free e-mail alert add-in for Microsoft Outlook. When new e-mail arrives, it will display a non-intrusive desktop alert containing essential information from the e-mail received. Great application - love the ability to watch only certain folders and delete/mark messages from the alert.

After 4 years of using this the upgrade is now trial/pay. That sucks.

Wide variety of useful settings that are not included in Outlook 2007 or 2010. Intuitive setup and options menu. Attractive customizable notification skin. Very reasonable price! None discovered so far. Considering the overwhelming myriad of features in the new Outlook 2010, it's surprising that MS didn't do more in the way of email notification options. In my opinion, the feature-rich MailAlert closes all the gaps that were overlooked by Microsoft. This is a whole lot of functionality for a very humble price. If you're not satisfied with Outlook's native notification options I would definitely recommend that you install the 30 day free trial and check it out!
