"Lots of customization, but can't read an AVI" Lots of customization with menus, buttons, and still images. Doesn't support AVI files. Looks like a decent program, but since it doesn't support AVI files I'm looking at other applications for my DVD burning needs.

"doesnt play dvd on dvd player" easy user interface yet difficult to figure when first tried needs improvement like all software applications when introduced to the computer users either on testing or final release versions

It's a good program but not very easy to use. I've used Nero Vision and that one is far easier to use and you can do way more things, although it's not free. I think this one is on the right track but still has to improve a lot to be really usable by a newbie.

"Great DVD Creating Program" Awesome menu options. Works with multiple video formats. It really is free and doesn't put any annoying advertising anywhere. Menu creation format could be cleaned up, shortcuts added and the help file could be expanded.

"Excellent Authoring Program" Does what it says in description. Has better menu options than some retail programs. Very easy to learn. Can add your own images as the background for the disc menu. Help file is kind of vague. A great download if you need software that can transcode and burn various video formats to a DVD that is playable in a stand alone player.

"Very simple, functional software." Simple and works. Great help and documentation on the sourceforge site, despite it being a little engrishy. One of those programs that's easy for quick stuff, but seems fairly adaptable for slightly more complicated stuff. Crashed a couple of times on output, probably something stupid i did. Doesn't seem to recognise the correct resolution of clips despite the project settings. Had to manually specify them in the clip properties. No biggy. All the stuff i said.

Absolute crap. After waiting for it to decode three menued avi videos (which took it 9 hours), the program announced that the burning had failed. The saved file took 30 minutes to load, and when BURN was again commanded, the application began to transcode all over again. There should be a place for dim-witted developers to do community service, perhaps they should be required to compensate users for shoddy craftsmanship.

This is no longer "Open Source". The author is including a "Kicin" crapware bundle. It has been reported to Sourceforge.

Still licensed under the GPL and here is a link to the source code: https://sourceforge.net/...-1.8.0.tar.bz2/download Makes it open source in my book. Ding one star for including some sort of third party installer which you can very easily decline. The program has always worked great for me, but I could see it becoming frustrating for someone who does not know how to use it or isn't familiar with the various topics associated with transcoding, authoring, etc.

"File downloaded said setup files were corrupt" Flexibility compared to paid products None yet, looks ok. I needed to get the file from the publisher's website. What went wrong here?

Does the bare minimum well. Only does the bare minimum. Not a bad program. DVD Flick is better and also free, however.

one of the easiest to use video systems i have tried .. its fast, not confusing, bug free with great results would love more features like cross fades and zooms .. you dont need that but it would increase the wow factor of this already good software .. i found other expensive programs (nero, vegas etc) buggy and confusing to use .. dvdstyler proves that you can do the complex task of generating high quality DVDs without confusion or complexity. i am able to create very nice DVDs in much less time than with other software i am using .. the output quality is as good as the expensive stuff. i would love to see where this goes in the future .. i used it to group a bunch of short home movies into a nice DVD. it does all of the fundamental things you need in a very easy to use format .. the software seems to be bug free and smooth operating.. i was so happy when i lucked into this software .. i was having trouble with nero 8 on win7 ..it works but with a lot of bugs, confusion and crashes ...i had to get a video put together by morning ..yikes .. when i found dvdstyler, i loaded it on my laptop (XP) it was like a breath of fresh air .. i finished my project of assembling lots of short home videos into a DVD in far less time than it usually takes .. the results were surprisingly good .. in fact as good as the best and most complex software i have used .. what a pleasant surprise .. if this software had cross fade, zoom and a few special effects then it would indeed replace the expensive software .. you dont really need those to make a great DVD and those features are often overused but just a few special effects can add to the wow factor .. as well done as dvdstyler is i am sure additional features will soon follow but for now its doing a great job for many of my projects .. i can recommend it for anyone that doesnt want to spend hours (weeks) learning other software but still wants exceptional results .. nice job dvdstyler

It does work sometimes. It ruins more DVDs than it successfully burns. I have to go through three or four dvds before it finally works. It blames the hardware, but it's obviously a problem in the software. The hardware works fine in Encore, not in this. I still use it, because it works and DVD Flick just doesn't. But it wastes a little bit of money at a time by ruining DVD-Rs.

It has very easy interface. The DVD it produced played on older player which other software was unable to do. The chapters are automatically set up with each clip I am having trouble getting more than one menu page set up The best I've found so far

30 min to burn , dvd menu, button selection, add mp3 files , make your own menus, change colors of buttons , stretch and shrink and move around windows , 100 % full control a free program that offers the advantages of a $200 1 tiny thing. just 1 . they should offer the choice to use back ground videos as menu .but not really that big a deal. Super product it blows nero and xilisoft dvd creator out of the water.Have searched far and wide for a program that does it all with no troubles and this my friends is it. some times it says error failed burn after burning but dvds play fine every time. I'm not sure why it says that though . I never give 5 stars maybe a 4 . but a 5 star has to be a super product. first super product I ever seen
